Purex PowerShot Review & Giveaway – Winners!

Have you ever had a laundry disaster? Not just having the dryer eat your socks, but a full on ‘everything went wrong’ kind of laundry disaster? I have! Today, it’s funny to think about, but when it happened, yeah, not so funny.
It happened a year or two after we had moved into our first house. It was a spring day and my husband had chosen to drive in to work rather than take the bus. I decided to start doing some laundry, so I started a load and went about doing other tasks. While I was doing those tasks, I kept hearing something strange and thought my son was playing in the bathroom. I checked on him and found him playing, but not in the bathroom and not with water. So, I decided to check the laundry and found, to my dismay, water spraying everywhere! One of the water hoses to the washer had cracked under the water pressure and was spraying water all over my dryer – it actually cut through the venting hose on the dryer and was flooding my garage. I panicked and called my husband who told me how to shut off the water and he then drove the 45 minutes home to help mop up the garage, dry out the dryer and replace the venting hose. That was my laundry disaster, you can tell me about yours when you enter my giveaway.  And don’t forget to check those washer hoses – the same thing happened to my neighbor this last summer, but her laundry is in the house.  They ended up needing to replace flooring and drywall and it took a while.  Replace those hoses every 5 years, because, trust me, they do wear out and that is a lot of water!!
That’s right, it’s time for that giveaway I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. First, I need to tell you about the product that you could win a coupon to try it for FREE!
Purex has a new detergent called “Purex PowerShot” – it’s concentrated, so you use less, it has it’s own measuring system inside the bottle, so no more messy lids and you can even see through the bottle! Definitely, not a laundry disaster!
I tried Powershot on my bedding and it did a great job! My son said that it smelled great and I just have to trust that he’s right – my sniffer isn’t working today due to a head cold. I like the measuring system in the bottle, but I think my favorite thing about the bottle is that I can see how much detergent is left in the bottle, no more guessing whether I’m close to being out of laundry detergent, I see how much I have with my own eyes!

I was very excited to try this new product as I have been a big fan of their original fabric softener crystals, I love the Fresh Spring Waters scent.
This new scent is stronger than the original crystals and when I took my first sniff of it in the bottle, I admit I wasn’t sure that I was going to like it, but I used it on my towels and they smelled fabulous when I pulled them out of the dryer. The scent lasted longer, too! That made me happy because I love soft, great smelling towels.

Purex No Sort Detergent Review & Giveaway:

Purex has a new laundry detergent that is advertised as No Sort. When I heard the words “No Sort”, I immediately wanted to try it and see if it would work for me. Anything to save time on laundry, right? At least for me, laundry is not my favorite chore. So, Purex sent me a bottle of the new laundry detergent to try (and share my opinion with you). I, of course, put it to the test right away. I washed a load of laundry that included some of my husband’s bright white under shirts and a couple of pairs of his older jeans and a variety of other clothing. I was hoping to see fabulous results like I get with Purex with Oxy. Unfortunately, the detergent did not pass this test – my husband’s under shirts came out slightly blue-grey and certainly not the bright white that they had been when I put them in the wash. I was bummed!
I’m not sure why this detergent didn’t work for me. I washed everything in cold water, the jeans were at least 2 yrs. old. Jeans are a hard test and I was hoping for great results. Maybe it’s my water or maybe the detergent needs some tweaking. I will say that the scent that I tried smelled fabulous. So, it didn’t work for me (it cleaned the clothes well, but didn’t eliminate the need to sort the clothes), would you like to try it for yourself and see if it works for you? As you have probably figured out by now, I love Purex Crystals! They are the only fabric softener I ever use on my towels and bedding. I especially love the fact that they don’t make the towels less absorbent like other fabric softeners do.
I’m always up for trying something new, so when Purex offered me the chance to try a bottle of their newest scent for the crystals, I said “Sign me up!”.
I tested it on some bedding and a tablecloth. My thoughts? I like it, the scent is a little lighter and a bit more floral than some of the other scents they offer. I’m not sure the scent lasts as long as my favorite Purex Crystal scent Spring Waters. Pretty sure my hubby liked the smell. I had washed the tablecloth, folded it and put it in the storage drawer when my hubby walked into the room and told me that something smelled good- very fresh and clean. So, I’ll take that as a thumbs up from him! Bonus, the bottle is really pretty, too!
